Powerhouse Museum blogs

Powerhouse Museum blogs

The Powerhouse Museum started its first blog ‘Fresh & New’ in May 2005, within the Digital team, as a means of sharing work in progress. From this small beginning, the museum has expanded the number of blogs to the current total of 8 blogs.

Each blog is created to serve a particular audience, with blogs now run by our Observatory, research library and curatorial team.

Outcomes

The launch of the 'Fresh & New' blog marked the beginning of an ongoing social media presence for the Powerhouse Museum. Blogs create a vital space for online community outreach and help to increase awareness of the variety of activities taking place within the museum. They are also a great way to get to know our visitors and for recent exhibitions, such as 'The 80s Are Back' they have been a fundamental part of the exhibition planning process (see our entry on 'The 80s Are Back' exhibition for more details).
